A short story for Her name is Rita
Some objects remind us of a place before we even say its name.
For us, the Catalan basket is one of them.
It belongs to the rhythm of Mediterranean life: mornings at the market, fruit and
vegetables brought home, bread tucked inside, countryside days, flowers, sandy towels
and long summer afternoons.
For generations, baskets were not objects chosen simply because they were beautiful.
They were made to be useful - to carry the ordinary things of everyday life. And perhaps
that is exactly where their beauty began.
With time, an everyday object can become something more. It begins to hold memories:
the hands that carried it, the places it travelled, the food it brought home, the seasons it
passed through.
Today we may use these baskets differently. One comes with us to the market, another to
the beach; one holds flowers or blankets at home, while another becomes part of what we
wear.
But something remains unchanged.
They are simple objects made from natural materials, shaped by hands, created to
accompany life.
A basket carries things.
But sometimes, it carries a little piece of where we come from
too.
This is why they belong at Her name is Rita: objects with roots, memory and a story that
can continue in another home.
